At Cadiz in the middle of the Mojave Desert east of Barstow, California, Burlington Northern Santa Fe GE Dash 9-44CW No. 4967 is lifted to remove faulty axle No. 2 from the front truck. A Tadano Mantis Corporation 30011 Truck/Rerailer does the honors with a highway truck-mounted crane with a capacity of 150-tons at an eleven foot radius. The bad axle/traction motor is now removed and out of the way, and the crew is now rolling a temporary axle/wheelset (without a traction motor) under the front truck so the locomotive can be safely moved to a shop for a new wheelset/traction motor. For brief while, BNSF No. 4967 will be an A1A-C locomotive!
Photo albums dedicated to the Men, and Women that keep the Railroad running around the clock 365 days a year. From Dispatcher to Track Gangs, these are the people that make the railroad moves!
A tribute of appreciation to the workers who maintain the track, keeping our railways in shape regardless of weather and danger, and keeping them running effeciently.
